Heart Beats and Hoof Beats

One aspect to pro-choice thinking is that it’s not automatically about actual aborting but simply about the concept of choice, and, intellectually, that’s hard to argue with. Indeed, my own feeling is this: Do I want the practice of abortion to cease? Absolutely yes. Do I want...

Against Single-Issue Voting

Some readers of the Human Life Review might not want to hear what I’m about to say. If you’re a single-issue voter, be able to defend your reasons for taking that approach. If you can’t, think harder about your political philosophy. First, though, acknowledge that a single-issue...

A Pastor's Reflections

We Need Men

Boys say when.  Girls say why. Boys get mad.  Girls they cry. I quote the chorus of an old song by The Producers, a band I listened to in high school. Although too young to understand what the words meant, I did wonder about them. Now,...

What We Need

About the Human Life Review

Human Life Review
The Human Life Review is the only publication of its kind in the world: a journal devoted to life issues, primarily abortion (William F. Buckley once praised it as "the focus of civilized discussion of the abortion issue"), but also "neonaticide," genetic engineering, cloning, and fetal tissue experimentation, as well as the end-of-life issues of euthanasia, assisted suicide and suicide. We also publish articles dealing with more general questions of family and society: what the "abortion mentality" has done to our culture; how moral relativism has pervaded our political process as well as our educational system; and how the debates over day care and the children's rights movements, as well as the controversy over health care and end-of-life decision making, reflect a society sharply divided on the most basic moral questions.
