A Pastor’s Reflections was created in 2015 by Reverend W. Ross Blackburn, who has been a pastor in the Anglican Church in North America for 20 years, and a longtime contributor to the Human Life Review. It was then expanded to Pastoral Reflections, with contributions from a variety of clerics and religious who write on abortion and other grave moral transgressions that not only hurt individuals but deform the culture and threaten religious liberty. We are expanding again, this time to include the lay faithful, in our new feature Faithful Reflections. We look forward to continued wisdom from our pastors as well as thoughtful reflections from those for whom faith is foundational.

The Nature of the Battle

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).   For those who...

A Welcome for the Ashamed

Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” (2 Samuel 12:7).   I am always amazed that, having committed adultery with Bathsheba and killing Uriah (2 Samuel 11), the Lord had to send Nathan the prophet to convict David of his sin. If ever a...

Faith on Earth

Luke 18:1-8 When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth? (Luke 18:8) What does this mean? In this Gospel lesson we find a widow who has nothing with which to persuade her judge—and an unjust judge at that—to come to her aid. Nothing...
