Margaret Colin

Margaret Colin is an award-winning stage, television, and film actress. Born in Brooklyn to a large Irish-Catholic—and staunchly pro-life—family and raised on Long Island, Colin attended Hofstra University on a drama scholarship and studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory and Juilliard. She began her acting career in the soaps—The Edge of Night and As the World Turns—where she met her future husband, the actor Justin Deas (married since 1988, they have two sons). Colin soon moved on to film—notably with roles in Pretty in Pink, Independence Day, and Three Men and a Baby—and television series such as Chicago Hope, Blue Bloods, and Chicago Med. From 2007 to 2013, Colin portrayed Eleanor Waldorf in the hit series Gossip Girl. In 2017, she received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy for the HBO series Veep. Colin has also had a long and successful career on stage, appearing in dozens of productions on and off Broadway. She received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Play for her work in John Patrick Shanley’s Defiance, and in 2018, she appeared in a Broadway revival of Carousel to critical acclaim. Margaret Colin is a rare champion for life in the world of entertainment. Formerly the honorary co-chair of Feminists for Life, she is currently an honorary board member of both Feminists for Non-Violent Choices and Feminists Choosing Life of New York.Alexandra DeSanctis Anne Conlon Anne Hendershott Bernadette Patel Brian Caulfield Clarke D.
