Kamala Harris Rejects Religious Exemptions for Pro-Lifers

Kamala Harris, religious exemption

A Kamala Harris presidency poses a grave threat to all Catholics and people of faith. Just this week, Harris scandalized the nation by declining to support conscience protections on abortion.

“What concessions would be on the table, religious exemptions, for example?” NBC News anchor Hallie Jackson asked the vice president in an interview regarding how Harris would get federal abortion legislation passed. “Is that something you would consider?”

“I don’t think we should be making concessions when we are talking about a fundamental freedom,” Harris responded.

This cavalier dismissal of Americans’ First Amendment rights shocked many Americans. Unfortunately, the only thing that shocked me was Harris’ willingness to expose her disdain and hostility toward Catholics and people of faith.

Kamala Harris’ entire political career has been marked by intolerance toward those who obstruct her radical agenda. Not only does she support abortion on demand, for any reason, and at any stage of pregnancy, but she ruthlessly targets those who disagree with her extremist views.

She has long made clear that First Amendment freedoms mean nothing if they stand in her way. Just look at her outrageous treatment of federal district court nominee Brian Buescher. Harris infamously interrogated Buescher over his involvement with the Catholic organization the Knights of Columbus and even went as far as to imply that his Catholic beliefs were disqualifying.

“Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?” she asked Buescher, as if pro-life beliefs were insane, insidious foibles of an extremist organization rather than core tenets of the Catholic faith.

This would be enough to raise any Catholic’s alarm bells, yet Harris has done far worse in pursuit of her insane agendas. As attorney general of California, for example, Harris colluded with Planned Parenthood to silence Catholic whistleblower David Daleiden. Harris inappropriately approved a raid on Daleiden’s home, which led to the seizure and burial of video evidence exposing Planned Parenthood discussing the sale of aborted babies’ body parts. Harris’s aggressive attack on Daleiden made it unequivocally clear that she had no issue targeting and silencing pro-life Americans when convenient.

This is why the Biden-Harris administration has ruthlessly targeted pro-life advocates, seeking to imprison even an elderly Holocaust survivor for a peaceful protest inside an abortion clinic. The Biden-Harris administration sought to put pro-life advocate Mark Houck behind bars for 11 years for a crime he did not commit, and from which he was ultimately exonerated. Yet the lengthy, humiliating, and public trial of Houck, as well as the administration’s choice to arrest him like he was a vicious criminal, were clearly intended to send a message to those who dared contradict the Biden-Harris agenda.

During her time as California attorney general, Harris also fought to use the “FACT Act” to force pro-life pregnancy centers — many of which are run by Catholics, or boast Catholic staffers — to advertise abortions in violation of their consciences. This law was so unconstitutional that the Supreme Court ultimately struck it down.

Nonplussed, Harris as a senator went on to push for the “Do No Harm Act,” which ironically would have done extreme, unconstitutional harm in the form of destroying conscience protections for medical professionals who objected to performing abortions or transgender surgeries. The bill would even punish sweet nuns seeking to administer to the poor and sick by forcing them either to violate their sincerely held beliefs or close up shop.

As if these attacks on our fundamental freedoms weren’t enough, Harris has made it clear she will not protect Americans with whom she disagrees — even from violent attacks. The Biden-Harris administration has turned a blind eye to the rampant violence against people of faith throughout the past two years. Since May 2022, over 90 pro-life organizations have suffered firebombings, threats, and costly attacks.

Rather than moving to protect all American citizens and their rights, Harris has made it unquestionably clear that she has no interest in anything but furthering her unconstitutional and dishonest policies. Moreover, she will stop at nothing to obliterate any inconvenient truths, freedoms, or individuals who stand in their way.
