New Jersey Governor Stockpiles Abortion Drugs in Case Trump Restricts Them

The governor of New Jersey has made the killing of preborn babies in his state a priority by announcing a stockpile of abortion drugs.

Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy has already signed legislation making abortion legal in the state through all nine months of pregnancy. Now he wants to ensure women can end the lives of their babies in the event President Donald Trump restricts access to abortion drugs.

The Democratic governor announced during his state of the state address that New Jersey would be creating a “strategic reserve” of the pills, as reported by NorthJersey.com.

“Administration officials said the state Health Department will begin ordering enough batches of mifepristone and distributing them to providers to create a strategic reserve of at least six months,” the news website reported.

“How much it will cost taxpayers was not disclosed, although it is part of $50 million earmarked in the current state budget for reproductive health services, officials said,” according to the local news outlet.

“We must further secure our reputation as a safe haven for reproductive freedom,” Murphy announced during his speech on Jan. 14.

Trump has said previously he will likely not restore the regulations formerly in place on the dangerous abortion drugs.

Former President Joe Biden’s administration removed regulations that required a woman to see a doctor to get the abortion drugs. He also ignored the Comstock Act, which explicitly forbids mailing abortion drugs, and said it is legal to send the pills across the country.

Murphy follows other blue state leaders in stockpiling abortion drugs. Gov. Maura Healey in Massachusetts spent $700,000 buying up abortion drugs, although they remain largely unused, according to Boston.com.

No abortion drug can ever be safe because it intends to end the life of a human child. But the drugs are also dangerous for the women taking them, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute. The pro-life think tank found a link between abortion drug usage and emergency room visits.

Murphy should not be prioritizing the killing of his own citizens through abortion pills. Rather, he should be seeking to support women and families in need and not making a political show about buying up drugs. No state should be spending money to kill innocent human beings. There are better uses for this money, such as supporting families and helping women choose life.
