A government website that directs women to resources on nutrition, conception help, and social services near them is flawed because it doesn’t promote abortion, according to Democratic members of Congress.

Moms.gov, which launched in May to coincide with Mother’s Day, is meant to help families navigate a variety of resources concerning conception, pregnancy, and parenting. It directs families to information on pregnancy resource centers, federally qualified health centers, and fertility awareness.

But this is not enough for Oregon Representative Suzanne Bonamici and 80 of her House Democratic colleagues. They want to know why the pro-family website only includes information on choosing life, and not on abortion.

They complained in a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services that “most crisis pregnancy centers in the United States do not employ licensed medical personnel and do not provide referrals for birth control or abortion care.”

“Crisis pregnancy centers across the country are preventing people from accessing critical reproductive health care and intentionally delaying access to time sensitive prenatal and abortion services,” the letter alleged.

The Democrats also complained that pro-life groups such as Heartbeat International are promoted by the website.

“Moms.gov is duplicitous, a waste of government resources, and a thinly-veiled attempt to push a far right agenda onto people at a vulnerable time in their lives,” the letter alleges.

Of course, this is just the latest attack by pro-abortion politicians on valuable, life-saving resources provided by pregnancy centers.

After all, Democratic leaders have issued consumer warnings over pregnancy resource centers and spent millions trying to bring them down. In Massachusetts, the state spent $1 million in taxpayer dollars to attack pregnancy centers, as Human Life Review previously reported. Follow-up reporting by this author concluded no one actually complained about the pregnancy centers.

Moms.gov should not promote abortion because the whole point of the website is to provide encouragement and aid to women and men who want to grow their families. The Trump administration, despite its faults on the pro-life issue, is at least taking the correct stance here that families should be encouraged.

Rep. Bonamici and her ilk should not be surprised that a pro-family website would not promote abortion, which is the opposite of being pro-family. She is just upset that the government is promoting families and not the killing of innocent preborn babies.
